Transliteration:( Kam ahlaknaa min qablihim min qarnin fanaadaw wa laata heena manaas )
"How many a generation We had destroyed [4] before them. They cried (for mercy), but it was too late [5] to escape."
This verse refers to the many past nations who were destroyed due to their pride and defiance against the Prophets. These nations—though powerful and advanced in their time—were eliminated because of their rejection of divine guidance and persistent disbelief.
Their downfall serves as a warning to those who follow the same path of arrogance, reminding us that no worldly strength can protect against Allah’s judgment.
When Divine punishment finally descended upon them, they cried out in desperation, hoping for mercy. But it was too late. Once the punishment begins, repentance is no longer accepted—just as planting seeds after the season has passed will bear no fruit.
This emphasizes that faith and repentance must come in due time, not when consequences are already unfolding.
