📖 Commentary of Surah Saba – Verse 38

"And those who try to defeat [115] Our Signs; they shall be brought [116] to face the punishment."

✅ [115] Efforts to Undermine the Qur’an

This refers to those who attempt to falsify or distort the verses of the Qur’an, often quietly and subtly, through misleading interpretations or rhetorical tricks. Their goal is not to understand the message, but to undermine it, hoping to mislead others. Such behavior is often rooted in pride, denial, and hatred of truth.

✅ [116] Misusing the Qur’an for Argumentative Victory

Using Qur’anic verses merely to win arguments, or engaging in religious debate for the sake of personal pride, is condemned. This is described as the practice of the disbelievers, not of sincere seekers of truth. The purpose of Qur’anic recitation is to convey guidance, not to prove superiority in debate.

The gravest misuse is when verses are cited to undermine the dignity of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. This is an act of deep disrespect and leads to spiritual ruin. Such individuals will be exposed and brought forth to face the punishment they earned — because the Qur’an is meant to honor and elevate, not to be used as a weapon against the truth.
