Quran-12:74 Surah Surah-yusuf English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

قَالُواْ فَمَا جَزَـٰٓؤُهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ كَٰذِبِينَ

Transliteration:( Qaaloo famaa jazaaa'u hooo in kuntum kaazibeen )

74. They said, “What is the penalty for him if you are liars [158]?” (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(74) They [the accusers] said, "Then what would be its recompense[607] if you should be liars?" (Saheen International Translation)

158. This means if the item under question is found in your possession, you should suggest the punishment for it. From this we understand that it is acceptable to propose and suggest punishment for a crime mutually an condition that the punishment proposed is not contrary to Islamic law.
