204. This means that today our eyes opened to the fact that obtaining abundance of wealth is not the proof of gaining Divine pleasure May Allah Almighty bless us with true faith

205. This tells us that to deny any obligatory act and to level an accusation against a Prophet is an act of infidelity, as Allah Almighty entered Qaroon among the group of the infidels. - 28:82

    وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي مَنۡ أَسۡرَفَ وَلَمۡ يُؤۡمِنۢ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦۚ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ

    Transliteration:( Wa kazaalika najzee man asrafa wa lam yu'min bi Aayaati Rabbih; wa la'azaabul Aakhirati ashaddu wa abqaa )

    127. And thus we do recompense him who crosses the limit and believes not in the signs of his Lord. And indeed, the torment of the Hereafter is the severest and forever lasting [180] . (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (127) And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.[865] (Saheen International Translation)

    180. Thus, any one who wants to save himself from this punishment should learn to bear the toil of proper worship and mystical exercise.

     

    Ibn-Kathir

    127. And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the Ayat of his Lord; and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting.

    Severe Torment for Him Who transgresses beyond bounds

    Allah says: `Thus We do requite those who transgress beyond bounds and believe the Ayat of Allah in this world and in the Hereafter.’

    ﴿لَّهُمْ عَذَابٌ فِى الْحَيَوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَلَعَذَابُ الاٌّخِرَةِ أَشَقُّ وَمَا لَهُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ مِن وَاقٍ ﴾

    (For them is a torment in the life of this world, and certainly, harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And they have no defender or protector against Allah.) ﴿13:34﴾ Therefore Allah said,

    ﴿وَلَعَذَابُ الاٌّخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَى﴾

    (and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting.) meaning: a more grievous and more painful penalty than of this world they will remain therein, they will abide forever in such torment. Allah’s Messenger said to both husband and wife who took an oath, when the husband accused his wife of committing illegal sexual intercourse:

    «إِنَّ عَذَابَ الدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْآخِرَة»

    (Verily, the torment of this worldly life is more insignificant, compared to the punishment of the Hereafter.)

    ﴿أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَـكِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَلِكَ لأَيَـتٍ لاٌّوْلِى النُّهَى ﴾

    (20:127) Thus do We requite him who transgresses and does not believe in the signs of your Lord[108] (during the life of the world); and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is even more terrible and more enduring.

    108. This refers to the wretched life which will be the lot of those who turn away from the admonition in this worldly life.

    (127) And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.[865]
