Quran-20:129 Surah Ta-ha English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامٗا وَأَجَلٞ مُّسَمّٗى

Transliteration:( Wa law laa Kalimatun sabaqat mir Rabbika lakaana lizaamanw wa 'ajalun musammaa )

129. And had not a word of your Lord gone forth [183] and a term determined then necessarily, the punishment would have stuck to them [184]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(129) And if not for a word[866] that preceded from your Lord, it [i.e., punishment] would have been an obligation [due immediately],[867] and [if not for] a specified term [decreed]. (Saheen International Translation)

183. By 'a word' is meant that in matters of propagation, your Ummah will not be afflicted with general punishment of the world. Whatever will be, will be in the Hereafter.

Ala-Maududi

(20:129) Were it not for a word already gone from your Lord, the decree (of their destruction) would have come to pass.


There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.
