Transliteration:( Wal-Qur-aanil-Hakeem )
"By the Wise [2] Qur’an"
Allah begins this verse by swearing an oath—“By the Wise Qur’an”—to emphasize the truthfulness, authority, and divine origin of the Qur'an. In the Qur’an, oaths are used to draw attention to something profound, and here, Allah swears by the Qur’an itself, describing it as “Wise” due to its guidance, perfect speech, and flawless structure.
Just as Allah swears by other majestic creations—such as the heavens, stars, or the earth—He also swears by the Qur’an, indicating that this revelation is not man-made, but rather a miracle filled with divine knowledge and unmatched eloquence.
This verse also implies that the truth of the Prophet ﷺ is tied to the truth of the Qur’an. Since the Qur’an was revealed to him, it serves as a testimony of his Prophethood. Through this, Allah honors both the Book and its recipient.
Scholars and saints have reflected that while the Qur’an is the Word of Allah, the Prophet ﷺ is the most honored of creation. The one who recites the Qur’an is called a Qāri, but the one who gazes at the blessed face of the Prophet ﷺ with the sincere gaze like that of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq, is called a Ṣaḥrī (Companion)—a rank far higher.
This verse thus not only affirms the wisdom and truth of the Qur’an, but also alludes to the noble status of the one to whom it was revealed.
