Transliteration:( Wa law nashaaa'u lamasakhnaahum 'alaa makaanatihim famas-tataa'oo mudiyyanw-wa laa yarji'oon )
99. In that they could have been made into stones, or monkeys, or pigs, etc. like it was done with the rebellious infidels of the previous people. It should be remembered that in the process of metamorphosis, only the face is changed, and the soul remains the same. Thus, it has no connection with the transmigration of souls (reincarnation) and general physical transformation, because according to the Anans in the metamorphosis the soul also undergoes a change. Please refer to Surah Yaseen ayat 63 which provides the complete commentary from verse 63 through 67.
(36:67) If We so willed, We would have transformed them where they were so that they would not go forward or backward.[56]
56. After depicting the scene of Resurrection, the people are being warned to this effect: The Resurrection may seem yet far off to you, but even if you consider seriously your life in this world of which you are so proud, you will see how helpless you are in the powerful grip of Allah. Your eyes by virtue of whose sight you are carrying out all your obligations in the world can be blinded at one command of Allah. Your legs on whose strength you are showing all this activity can become paralyzed as and when Allah wills. As long as the powers and capabilities granted by Allah continue to function, you remain lost in the arrogance of your self, but as soon as one of them fails to function, you come to understand how helpless you are.
[1278]- He (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) could have prevented man from taking any action to benefit himself in this world or the Hereafter, yet He did not.
