📖 Commentary of Surah Ya-Sin – Verse 75

"They (the gods) cannot help them, yet they shall be brought, being arrested [112] as their allies."

✅ [112] Helpless Idols and the Humiliation of Polytheists

These false gods—the idols—have no power to help their worshippers. Yet, on the Day of Judgment, both the idolaters and their idols will be dragged together.

The polytheists will be punished, while the idols will be brought forth—not to receive punishment, but to stand as witnesses to the folly of their worshippers, or to serve in their humiliation.

Some scholars explain that idols will be used to intensify the disgrace, making the disbelievers realise that those whom they took as divine partners were completely powerless even to save themselves, let alone their worshippers.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Yaseen verse 75 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Yaseen ayat 74 which provides the complete commentary from verse 74 through 76.

(36:75) Those deities can render them no help. Yet these devotees act as though they were an army in waiting for them.[62]

Ala-Maududi

(36:75) Those deities can render them no help. Yet these devotees act as though they were an army in waiting for them.[62]

62. That is, the poor false gods themselves are dependent upon their worshipers for their survival and their safety and their needs. But for their multitudes they could not survive as gods even for a day. These people are behaving as their humble servants. They are setting up and decorating their shrines; they carry out propaganda for them; they fight and quarrel with others for their sake. Then only are they recognized as gods. They are not the real God, Who, whether someone recognizes Him or not, is ruling over the whole universe by His own might and authority.

(75) They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.[1282]

[1282]- Maintaining and protecting their "gods." Another interpretation is that they (i.e., the gods) will be soldiers set against them in Hellfire.
