Al-Ahzab (Arabic: الأحزاب, al-aḥz'b; meaning: the confederates, or "the clans", "the coalition", or "the combined forces") is the 33rd chapter (Surah) of the Quran (Q33) with 73 verses.

The summary/theme of the surah Al-Ahzab: 

Three important events are discussed in the Surah: the Battle of the Trench (or Al-Ahzab: the Clans), which took place in Shawwal, A. H. 5; the raid on Bani Quraizah, which took place in Dhil-Qa'dah, A. H. 5; and the Holy Prophet's marriage with Hadrat Zainab, which was also contracted there.

Lesson learned from  surah Al-Ahzab

  1. Adopt taqw'.  
  2. Rely solely on Allah's.  
  3. Hypocrisy is a grave evil.  
  4. Allah's is oft forgiving and merciful.  
  5. Remember the favours of Allah's by looking back on incidents from the past. 
  6. The á¹¢aḥ'bah رضي الله عنهم were tested to the limits by Allah's, a test which they passed.  
  7. The hypocrites were the enemy within, and they were always trying to cause disruption.  
  8. Who can save you from Allah's if He decides to inflict you with difficulty, or even decides to shower you with His mercy?  
  9. The best example for us is in the Messenger ï·º  
  10. Depending on your status in society and as a person of religious stature, there is a certain level of conduct that is demanded of you that is above that of others.  
  11. The reward you receive from Allah's will multiply depending on your sacrifices.  
  12. The wives of the Prophet ï·º were duty-bound by Allah's to inform the masses what would be revealed within the confines of their homes, and any wisdom that would be imparted by the Prophet ï·º when in private.  
  13. When Allah's and His Messenger ï·º decide something for an individual, there remains no choice in the matter for them.  
  14. Allah's has more right that you fear Him than fear the people.  
  15. There are Ayat in the Quran wherein Allah's directly rebukes the Prophet ï·º, yet the Prophet ï·º did not conceal these Ayat from us, which proves his truthfulness in his claim to Prophethood and trustworthiness.  
  16. Muḥammad ï·º was the seal of the Prophets; he was the final one.  
  17. Remember Allah's in abundance.  
  18. Ignore the inconveniences and trouble caused by the hypocrites. Rely on Allah's to take care of them.  
  19. There were certain privileges given by Allah's to the Prophet ï·º over the rest of the Ummah.  
  20.  When invited to eat at someone’s house, don’t sit around talking after the food has been served being oblivious to the host’s circumstances.  
  21. You should never shy away from the truth.[6]  
  22. Send salutations upon the Prophet ï·º in abundance.  
  23. A modest dress code is a means of protection.[7]  
  24. The knowledge of the Final Hour is only with Allah's.  
  25. The disbelievers will regret not following the Messenger ï·º in the Hereafter.  
  26. Do not mock and jest any Prophet.  
  27. Speak in straightforward terms. Don’t beat around the bush.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

هُنَالِكَ ٱبۡتُلِيَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَزُلۡزِلُواْ زِلۡزَالٗا شَدِيدٗا

Transliteration:( Hunaalikab tuliyal mu'minoona wa zulziloo zilzaalan shadeedaa )
11.That was the place where the believers were tested, and they were with a severe [26] shaking.

وَإِذۡ يَقُولُ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٞ مَّا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِلَّا غُرُورٗا

Transliteration:( Wa iz yaqoolul munaafiqoona wallazeena fee quloobihim maradum maa wa'adanal laahu wa Rasooluhooo illaa ghurooraa )
12. And when the hypocrites and those in whose bearts was a disease [27] said; "Allah and His Messenger promised us no victory, but a delusion" [28].

وَإِذۡ قَالَت طَّآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَـٰٓأَهۡلَ يَثۡرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمۡ فَٱرۡجِعُواْۚ وَيَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُ فَرِيقٞ مِّنۡهُمُ ٱلنَّبِيَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوۡرَةٞ وَمَا هِيَ بِعَوۡرَةٍۖ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا

Transliteration:( Wa iz qaalat taaa'ifatum minhum yaaa ahla Yasriba laa muqaamaa lakum farji'oo; wa yastaazinu fareequm minhumun Nabiyya yaqooloona inna buyootanaa 'awrah; wa maa hiya bi'awratin iny yureedoona illaa firaaraa )
13. And when a party of them said; "O people [29] of Madina you cannot stand [30] for much longer, therefore go back to your homes". And a party of them asked permission (31) of the Prophet saying: "Our homes are unsafe", but they were not unsafe. They wished not but to flee (32) away.

وَلَوۡ دُخِلَتۡ عَلَيۡهِم مِّنۡ أَقۡطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُواْ ٱلۡفِتۡنَةَ لَأٓتَوۡهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُواْ بِهَآ إِلَّا يَسِيرٗا

Transliteration:( wa law dukhilat 'alaihim min aqtaarihaa summa su'ilul fitnata la aatawhaa wa maa talabbasoo bihaaa illaa yaseeraa )
14. And if the armies were entered upon them from the sides of Madina, and they would have asked [33] to wage a war on them, they would not have occupied it (battlefield) except for a little time.

وَلَقَدۡ كَانُواْ عَٰهَدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبۡلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلۡأَدۡبَٰرَۚ وَكَانَ عَهۡدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسۡـُٔولٗا

Transliteration:( Wa laqad kaanoo 'aahadul laaha min qablu laa yuwal loonal adbaar; wa kaana 'ahdul laahi mas'oolaa )
15.And certainly they had already pledged with Allah before that, that they would not turn their backs[34]. And the pledge with Allah shall be questioned [35].

قُل لَّن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلۡفِرَارُ إِن فَرَرۡتُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ أَوِ ٱلۡقَتۡلِ وَإِذٗا لَّا تُمَتَّعُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا

Transliteration:( Qul lany yanfa'akumul firaaru in farartum minal mawti awil qatli wa izal laa tumatta'oona illaa qaleelaa )
16.Please declare: "Your flight will never profit you if you flee from death or slaying, and even then you shall not be allowed to enjoy (in the world) but a little" (36).

قُلۡ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَعۡصِمُكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ سُوٓءًا أَوۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ رَحۡمَةٗۚ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيّٗا وَلَا نَصِيرٗا

Transliteration:( Qul man zal lazee ya'simukum minal laahi in araada bikum sooo'an aw araada bikum rahmah; wa laa yajidoona lahum min doonil laahi waliyyanw wa laa naseeraa )
17. Please declare: "Who is he that can save you against the Command of Allah, if it be His wish to do you harm, or show His Mercy"[37]. And they shall neither find for themselves any supporter nor any helper [38] besides Allah.

۞قَدۡ يَعۡلَمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلۡقَآئِلِينَ لِإِخۡوَٰنِهِمۡ هَلُمَّ إِلَيۡنَاۖ وَلَا يَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡبَأۡسَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

Transliteration:( Qad ya'lamul laahul mu'awwiqeena minkum walqaaa'ileena li ikhwaanihim halumma ilainaa, wa laa yaatoonal baasa illaa qaleelaa )
18.Indeed, Allah knows those of you who hinder others (from Holy War) and say to their brothers, come (39) to our side. And they come not to the battle but a little (40).

أَشِحَّةً عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ ٱلۡخَوۡفُ رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيۡكَ تَدُورُ أَعۡيُنُهُمۡ كَٱلَّذِي يُغۡشَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۖ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ ٱلۡخَوۡفُ سَلَقُوكُم بِأَلۡسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى ٱلۡخَيۡرِۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَمۡ يُؤۡمِنُواْ فَأَحۡبَطَ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٗا

Transliteration:( Ashihhatan 'alaikum faizaa jaaa'al khawfu ra aytahum yanzuroona ilaika tadooru a'yunuhum kallazee yughshaa 'alaihi minal mawti fa izaa zahabal khawfu salqookum bi alsinatin hidaadin ashihhatan 'alal khayr; ulaaa'ika lam yu'minoo fa ahbatal laahu a'maalahum; wa kaana zaalika 'alal laahi yaseeraa )
19.They are reluctant in helping you. But when the time of fear comes to them, you will see them looking at you. Their eyes are rolling [41] as if death [42] has approached them. Then when the time of fear has passed (43) away, they began to taunt you with a sharp tongue, being greedy of the booty (44). These people have never believed (45), therefore Allah has nullified (46) their works, and this is an easy 47) thing for Allah.

يَحۡسَبُونَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابَ لَمۡ يَذۡهَبُواْۖ وَإِن يَأۡتِ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ يَوَدُّواْ لَوۡ أَنَّهُم بَادُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ يَسۡـَٔلُونَ عَنۡ أَنۢبَآئِكُمۡۖ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ فِيكُم مَّا قَٰتَلُوٓاْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا

Transliteration:( Yahsaboonal Ahzaaba lam yazhaboo wa iny yaatil Ahzaabu yawaddoo law annahum baadoona fil A'raabi yasaloona 'an ambaaa'ikum wa law kaanoo feekum maa qaatalooo illaa qaleela (section 2) )
20. They are thinking that the allies [48] (of infidels) have not yet gone, and if the allies come again, they would wish to be in the desert with the Arabs (Bedouins) enquiring (49) about your news. If they would have been among you, even then they would not have thought but a little.
