 There are beautiful points to be understood and applied in Surah Anfal, also known as Surah Badr, which discusses the first battle between Muslims and polytheists in Mecca in the 2nd year after Hijra.

Lesson learned from surah Al-Anfal

  1. The true believers are those whose hearts soften when Allah's is remembered, and when the a€yahs of Allah's are recited, their aªm'n increases in strength.  
  2. As long as people remain seeking Allah's’s forgiveness, His punishment will not befall them.  
  3. The spoils of war should be distributed according to the instructions of Allah's.  
  4. Allah's does not like those who deceive.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡأَنفَالِۖ قُلِ ٱلۡأَنفَالُ لِلَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِۖ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَصۡلِحُواْ ذَاتَ بَيۡنِكُمۡۖ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ

Transliteration:( Yas'aloonaka 'anil anfaali qulil anfaalu lillaahi war Rasooli fattaqul laaha wa aslihoo zaata bainikum wa atee'ul laaha wa Rasoolahooo in kuntum mu'mineen )
1. They ask you regarding the spoils [1] of war. Say, "The spoils are for Allah and the Messenger [2]. So fear Allah [3], and set things right among yourselves, and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers [4]."

إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ زَادَتۡهُمۡ إِيمَٰنٗا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

Transliteration:( Innamal mu'minoonal lazeena izaa zukiral laahu wajilat quloobuhum wa izaa tuliyat 'alaihim Aayaatuhoo zaadat hum eemaananw wa 'alaa Rabbihim yatawakkaloon )
2. Only those are believers whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned [5], and when His verses are recited to them, it increases their faith [6], and upon their Lord they rely [7].

ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ

Transliteration:( Allazeena yuqeemoonas Salaata wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yunfiqoon )
3. They establish Salah (prayer) and spend from what We have provided them [8].

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ حَقّٗاۚ لَّهُمۡ دَرَجَٰتٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَمَغۡفِرَةٞ وَرِزۡقٞ كَرِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Ulaaa'ika humul mu'minoona haqqaa; lahum darajaatun 'inda Rabbihim wa magh firatunw wa rizqun kareem )
4. They are the true believers. For them are ranks with their Lord, forgiveness, and an honorable provision [9].

كَمَآ أَخۡرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَيۡتِكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ لَكَٰرِهُونَ

Transliteration:( Kaamaaa akhrajaka Rabbuka mim baitika bilhaqq; wa inna fareeqam minal mu'mineena lakaarihoon )
5. Just as your Lord brought you forth from your home with truth [10], and indeed a group of the believers were surely unhappy with it [11].

يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ فِي ٱلۡحَقِّ بَعۡدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَوۡتِ وَهُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ

Transliteration:( Yujaadiloonaka fil haqqi ba'da maa tabaiyana ka'annamaa yasaaqoona ilal mawti wa hum yanzuroon )
6. They dispute with you concerning the truth after it has become clear, as though they are being driven towards death while they look on [12].

وَإِذۡ يَعِدُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ إِحۡدَى ٱلطَّآئِفَتَيۡنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمۡ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيۡرَ ذَاتِ ٱلشَّوۡكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمۡ وَيُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُحِقَّ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ وَيَقۡطَعَ دَابِرَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa iz ya'idukumul laahu ihdat taaa'ifataini annahaa lakum wa tawaddoona anna ghaira zaatish shawkati takoonu lakum wa yureedul laahu ai yuhiqqal haqqa bikalimaatihee wa yaqta'a daabiral kaafireen )
7. And remember when Allah promised you that one of the two groups [13] would be yours, and you wished that the one which had no weapons [14] would be yours. But Allah intended to establish the truth by His words and to cut off the roots of the disbelievers [15].

لِيُحِقَّ ٱلۡحَقَّ وَيُبۡطِلَ ٱلۡبَٰطِلَ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

Transliteration:( Liyuhiqqal haqqa wa yubtilal baatila wa law karihal mujrimoon )
8.That He may establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the guilty dislike it [16].

إِذۡ تَسۡتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَجَابَ لَكُمۡ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُم بِأَلۡفٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ مُرۡدِفِينَ

Transliteration:( Iz tastagheesoona Rabbakum fastajaaba lakum annee mumiddukum bi alfim minal malaaa'ikati murdifeen )
9. When you were calling upon your Lord for help, He responded to you, "I am indeed sending to you a thousand angels [18] in succession [17]."

وَمَا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشۡرَىٰ وَلِتَطۡمَئِنَّ بِهِۦ قُلُوبُكُمۡۚ وَمَا ٱلنَّصۡرُ إِلَّا مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

Transliteration:( Wa maa ja'alahul laahu illaa bushraa wa litatma'inna bihee quloobukum; wa man nasru illaa min 'indil laah; innal laaha Azeezun Hakeem )
10. And Allah did this only as glad tidings for you so that your hearts might find peace. And victory comes only from Allah [20]. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might, Wise.
