The summary/theme of the surah al-‘ankabÅ«t: 

Muslims who are sincere are strengthened by this Surah, and those who are weak in their faith are admonished. During those days, some young men faced questions regarding Islam, and their parents encouraged them to return to their ancestral religion in place of Islam. This Surah also addresses these questions.

Lesson learned from  surah al-‘ankabÅ«t: 

  1. Do we think that we will be left alone without being tested on our aªm'n? Being tested is inevitable.  
  2. Allah's gives parables and examples in the Quran that only the knowledgeable understand.  
  3. á¹¢al'h performed properly will stop you from committing sins.  
  4. Every soul shall taste death  
  5. The life of the Hereafter is one worth living and anticipating.  
  6. Whoever strives in the way of Allah's, Allah's will guide him/her.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرۡحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُقۡلَبُونَ

Transliteration:( Yu'azzibu many yashaaa'u wa yarhamu many yashaaa'; wa ilaihi tuqlaboon )
21. He punishes whom He pleases [45] and shows mercy on whom He pleases, and you are to return only to Him.

وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٖ

Transliteration:( Wa maaa antum bimu'jizeena fil ardi wa laa fissamaaa'i wa maa lakum min doonil laahi minw waliyyinw wa laa naseer (section 2) )
22. And neither can you escape [from Allah] on the earth nor in the heavens. And you have no ally other than Allah, nor any helper. [46]

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِقَآئِهِۦٓ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ يَئِسُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَتِي وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Wallazeena kafaroo bi Aayaatil laahi wa liqaaa'iheee ulaaa'ika ya'isoo mir rahmatee wa ulaaa'ika lahum 'azaabun aleem )
23. And those who disbelieve [48] in the signs of Allah and the meeting with Him, it is they who have despaired of My mercy, and for them is a painful punishment. [49]

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ ٱقۡتُلُوهُ أَوۡ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ

Transliteration:( Famaa kaana jawaaba qawmiheee illaaa an qaaluqtuloohu aw harriqoohu fa anjaahul laahu minan naar; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil li qawminy yu'minoon )
24. Then his people could answer nothing except to say, "Kill him or burn him." But Allah saved him [50] from the fire [51]. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who believe. [52]

وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ٱتَّخَذۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡثَٰنٗا مَّوَدَّةَ بَيۡنِكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ ثُمَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ يَكۡفُرُ بَعۡضُكُم بِبَعۡضٖ وَيَلۡعَنُ بَعۡضُكُم بَعۡضٗا وَمَأۡوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa qaala innamat takhaz tum min doonil laahi awsaanam mawaddata bainikum fil hayaatid dunyaa summa Yawmal Qiyaamati yakfuru ba'dukum biba'dinw wa yal'anu ba'dukum ba'danw wa ma'waakumun Naaru wa maa lakum min naasireen )
25. And Ibrahim said, "You have indeed taken besides Allah these idols as a bond of friendship between yourselves in the worldly life [53]. Then on the Day of Resurrection, some of you will disbelieve in others [54] and curse each other [55]. And your refuge will be the Fire [56], and you will have no helpers [57]."

۞فَـَٔامَنَ لَهُۥ لُوطٞۘ وَقَالَ إِنِّي مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّيٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

Transliteration:( Fa aamana lahoo Loot; wa qaala innee muhajirun ilaa Rabbee innahoo Huwal 'Azeezul Hakeem )
26. Then Lut believed in him [58]. And Ibrahim said, "I am emigrating to my Lord" [59]. Indeed, He is the Mighty, the Wise [60].

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ ٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ أَجۡرَهُۥ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa wahabnaa lahoo Ishaaqa wa Ya'Qooba wa ja'alnaa fee zurriyyatihin Nubuwwata wal Kitaaba wa aatainaahu ajrahoo fid dunyaa wa innahoo fil aakhirati laminas saaliheen )
27. And We bestowed upon him Ishaq [61] and Ya'qub, and We made prophethood and the Book [62] a part of his descendants. And We gave him his reward in this world [63]. Indeed, in the Hereafter, he is among the righteous [64].

وَلُوطًا إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنۡ أَحَدٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa Lootan iz qaala liqawmiheee innakum la ta'toonal faahishata maa sabaqakum bihaa min ahadin minal 'aalameen )
28. And when Lut said to his people [65], "Indeed, you commit indecency which none among the entire world has done before you" [66].

أَئِنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ وَتَقۡطَعُونَ ٱلسَّبِيلَ وَتَأۡتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمُ ٱلۡمُنكَرَۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ ٱئۡتِنَا بِعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

Transliteration:( A'innakum la ta'toonar rijaala wa taqta'oonas sabeela wa ta'toona fee naadeekumul munkara famaa kaana jawaaba qawmiheee illaaa an qaalu' tinaaa bi'azaabil laahi in kunta minas saadiqeen )
29. Do you commit unnatural acts with men [67], and sever the way [68], and commit evil in your gatherings [69]? Then his people’s response was nothing but to say, "Bring us the punishment of Allah if you are among the truthful."

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

Transliteration:( Qaala Rabbin surnee 'alal qawmil mufsideen (section 3) )
30. He submitted, "O my Lord, help me against these corrupt people" [70].
