The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Isra

 The disbelievers of Makkah are admonished to take lessons from the miserable end of the Israelites and other communities and mend their ways from this Surah, which is a wonderful blend of warning, admonition, and instruction. In this Surah important event has been mentioned regarding the night journey of our Holy Prophet to the heavens and meeting with Allah

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Isra

  1. On the Day of Judgement, everyone shall be handed their book of deeds, which will have every minute detail of their lives recorded. They themselves will be able to envisage their outcome that day. 
  2. Whoever strives solely behind the luxuries of this world, Allah's will give them whatever He wishes to, not what they themselves want, and then doom them to Jahannam.
  3. Whoever strives to acquire the luxuries of the Hereafter properly, Allah's will appreciate his/her efforts. 
  4. Each person will be responsible for his/her own burdens on the Day of Qiy'mah; not for those of others.  
  5. Be good to parents.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

أَوۡ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّةٞ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَعِنَبٖ فَتُفَجِّرَ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرَ خِلَٰلَهَا تَفۡجِيرًا

Transliteration:( Aw takoona laka jannatum min nakheelinw wa 'inabin fatufajjiral anhaara khilaalahaa tafjeeraa )
91. "Or that you have a garden of date palms and vines, and you cause rivers to gush forth within it."

أَوۡ تُسۡقِطَ ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَمَا زَعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفًا أَوۡ تَأۡتِيَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ قَبِيلًا

Transliteration:( Aw tusqitas samaaa'a kamaa za'amta 'alainaa kisafan aw ta'tiya billaahi wal malaaa'ikati qabeelaa )
92. "Or you may cause [190], the heavens to fall upon us in pieces as you have asserted, or bring Allah and the Angels as surety [191]."

أَوۡ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيۡتٞ مِّن زُخۡرُفٍ أَوۡ تَرۡقَىٰ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَلَن نُّؤۡمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّىٰ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيۡنَا كِتَٰبٗا نَّقۡرَؤُهُۥۗ قُلۡ سُبۡحَانَ رَبِّي هَلۡ كُنتُ إِلَّا بَشَرٗا رَّسُولٗا

Transliteration:( Aw yakoona laka baitum min zukhrufin aw tarqaa fis samaaa'i wa lan nu'mina liruqiyyika hatta tunazzila 'alainaa kitaaban naqra'uh; qul Subhaana Rabbee hal kuntu illaa basharar Rasoolaa (section 10) )
93. "Or you have a house of gold or you ascend up into the heavens, and we will never believe in your ascension until you send down to us a book that we may read [192]. Say, 'Glory be to my Lord! Am I anything but a human being sent as a messenger [193]?' "

وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ إِذۡ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ أَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ بَشَرٗا رَّسُولٗا

Transliteration:( Wa maa mana'an naasa any yu'minooo iz jaaa'ahumul hudaaa illaaa an qaalooo aba'asal laahu basharar Rasoolaa )
94. And what prevented [194] people from believing when the guidance came to them, except that they said, 'Has Allah sent a human being as a messenger [195]?'

قُل لَّوۡ كَانَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةٞ يَمۡشُونَ مُطۡمَئِنِّينَ لَنَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَلَكٗا رَّسُولٗا

Transliteration:( Qul law kaana fil ardi malaaa 'ikatuny yamshoona mutma'in neena lanazzalnaa 'alaihim minas samaaa'i malakar Rasoolaa )
95. Say, 'If there had been angels walking on the earth in peace [196], We would have certainly sent down to them from the heavens an angel as a messenger [197].'

قُلۡ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدَۢا بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَكُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرَۢا بَصِيرٗا

Transliteration:( Qul kafaa billaahi shaheedam bainee wa bainakum; innahoo kaana bi'ibaadihee Khabeeram Baseeraa )
96. Say, 'Sufficient is Allah as a witness between me and you [198]. Indeed, He is All-Aware, All-Seer of His servants [199].'

وَمَن يَهۡدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِۖ وَمَن يُضۡلِلۡ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِهِۦۖ وَنَحۡشُرُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمۡ عُمۡيٗا وَبُكۡمٗا وَصُمّٗاۖ مَّأۡوَىٰهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ كُلَّمَا خَبَتۡ زِدۡنَٰهُمۡ سَعِيرٗا

Transliteration:( Wa mai yahdil laahu fahuwal muhtad; wa mai yudlil falan tajida lahum awliyaaa'a min doonih; wa nahshuruhum Yawmal Qiyaamati 'alaa wujoohihim umyanw wa bukmanw wa summaa; ma'waahum Jahannamu kullamaa khabat zidnaahum sa'eeraa )
97. And whoever Allah guides, he is the rightly guided; and whoever He leads astray, you will find no allies for them besides Him [200]. And We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection on their faces, blind, mute, and deaf [201]. Their abode is Hell. Whenever it cools down, We will increase for them the fierceness of the Fire [202].

ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَقَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا وَرُفَٰتًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ خَلۡقٗا جَدِيدًا

Transliteration:( Zaalika jazaa'uhum bi annahum kafaroo bi aayaatinaa wa qaalooo 'a izaa kunnaa 'izaamanw wa rufaatan 'a innaa la mab'oosoona khalqan jadeedaa )
98. This is their punishment because they rejected [203] Our signs and said, 'When we become bones and broken particles, shall we really be resurrected as a new creation?' [204]

۞أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخۡلُقَ مِثۡلَهُمۡ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمۡ أَجَلٗا لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورٗا

Transliteration:( Awalam yaraw annal laahal lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda qaadirun 'alaaa any yakhluqa mislahum wa ja'ala lahum ajalal laa raiba fee; fa abaz zaalimoona illaa kufooraa )
99. And do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth [205], is able to create the like of them [206]? And He has appointed for them a term about which there is no doubt [207]. But the unjust refuse to accept anything but disbelief.

قُل لَّوۡ أَنتُمۡ تَمۡلِكُونَ خَزَآئِنَ رَحۡمَةِ رَبِّيٓ إِذٗا لَّأَمۡسَكۡتُمۡ خَشۡيَةَ ٱلۡإِنفَاقِۚ وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ قَتُورٗا

Transliteration:( Qul law antum tamlikoona khazaaa'ina rahmati Rabbeee izal la amsaktum khash yatal infaaq; wa kaanal insaanu qatooraa (section 11) )
100. Say, 'If you had been the owners of the treasures of the mercy of my Lord, you would have surely held it back because of fear of spending [208]. And man is a great miser [209].'
