The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Kahf 

In this Surah, there are one hundred and ten verses, all of which were revealed in Mecca. The story of the Companions of the Cave (Kahf), Moses and Khidr (a.s.), Zulqarnayn, and some awakening materials about Origin and End are discussed in this holy Surah.

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Kahf 

  1. There are no discrepancies in the Quran.  
  2. Make a point of saying In-sh'’Allah's when speaking of doing something in the future.  
  3. Don’t let the wealth and blessings given to you by Allah's lead you to neglecting Him.  
  4. Allah's is oft forgiving and the possessor of mercy.  
  5. When planning on travelling with people, let them know of the nature of the journey so they can be well prepared.  
  6. If you realise you will not get on with a person due to differences in personality/nature, it is best to keep your distance.  
  7. If you have to do something in the presence of others who may not understand your actions, explain your reasons to them.  
  8. The worst losers are those who think they are doing good in the world, whereas in reality they aren’t.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَلَمۡ يَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ عِوَجَاۜ

Transliteration:( Alhamdu lillaahil lazeee anzala 'alaa 'abdihil kitaaba wa lam yaj'al lahoo 'iwajaa )
1. All praise is due to Allah, who sent down the Book upon His servant [1], and has not placed therein any crookedness [2].

قَيِّمٗا لِّيُنذِرَ بَأۡسٗا شَدِيدٗا مِّن لَّدُنۡهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرًا حَسَنٗا

Transliteration:( Qaiyimal liyunzira ba'asan shadeedam mil ladunhu wa yubashshiral mu'mineenal lazeena ya'maloonas saalihaati anna lahum ajran hasanaa )
2. The Book, upright, to warn [3] of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that for them [4] is a good reward.

مَّـٰكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدٗا

Transliteration:( Maakiseena feehi abadaa )
3. In it they shall abide forever [5].

وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدٗا

Transliteration:( Wa yunziral lazeena qaalut takhazal laahu waladaa )
4. And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son" [6].

مَّا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٖ وَلَا لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡۚ كَبُرَتۡ كَلِمَةٗ تَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ أَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۚ إِن يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبٗا

Transliteration:( Maa lahum bihee min 'ilminw wa laa li aabaaa'ihim; kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwaahihim; iny yaqooloona illaa kazibaa )
5. They have no knowledge about it, nor do their forefathers [7]. What a monstrous word it is that comes out [8] from their mouths. They are merely telling a lie.

فَلَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٞ نَّفۡسَكَ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ إِن لَّمۡ يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا

Transliteration:( Fala'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka 'alaaa aasaarihim illam yu'minoo bihaazal hadeesi asafaa )
6. Perhaps you will risk your life with grief after them if they do not believe in this discourse [9].

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ زِينَةٗ لَّهَا لِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡ أَيُّهُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗا

Transliteration:( Innaa ja'alnaa ma 'alal ardi zeenatal lahaa linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu 'amalaa )
7. Indeed, We have adorned whatever is on the earth [10] as a decoration for it, so that We may test them as to which of them is best in deeds [11].

وَإِنَّا لَجَٰعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيۡهَا صَعِيدٗا جُرُزًا

Transliteration:( Wa innaa la jaa'iloona maa 'alaihaa sa'eedan juruzaa )
8. And indeed, whatever is on it, We shall one day leave it as a barren wasteland [12].

أَمۡ حَسِبۡتَ أَنَّ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡكَهۡفِ وَٱلرَّقِيمِ كَانُواْ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا عَجَبًا

Transliteration:( Am hasibta anna Ashaabal Kahfi war Raqeemi kaanoo min Aayaatinaa 'ajabaa )
9. Did you think that the People of the Cave and the Inscription [13] were among Our wondrous signs?

إِذۡ أَوَى ٱلۡفِتۡيَةُ إِلَى ٱلۡكَهۡفِ فَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحۡمَةٗ وَهَيِّئۡ لَنَا مِنۡ أَمۡرِنَا رَشَدٗا

Transliteration:( Iz awal fityatu ilal Kahfi faqaaloo Rabbanaaa aatinaa mil ladunka rahmatanw wa haiyi' lanaa min amrinaa rashadaa )
10. When those youths took refuge [14], in the cave and said 'O our Lord, grant to us mercy from yourself and provide for us guidance in our affair.'[15].
