The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Kahf 

In this Surah, there are one hundred and ten verses, all of which were revealed in Mecca. The story of the Companions of the Cave (Kahf), Moses and Khidr (a.s.), Zulqarnayn, and some awakening materials about Origin and End are discussed in this holy Surah.

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Kahf 

  1. There are no discrepancies in the Quran.  
  2. Make a point of saying In-sh'’Allah's when speaking of doing something in the future.  
  3. Don’t let the wealth and blessings given to you by Allah's lead you to neglecting Him.  
  4. Allah's is oft forgiving and the possessor of mercy.  
  5. When planning on travelling with people, let them know of the nature of the journey so they can be well prepared.  
  6. If you realise you will not get on with a person due to differences in personality/nature, it is best to keep your distance.  
  7. If you have to do something in the presence of others who may not understand your actions, explain your reasons to them.  
  8. The worst losers are those who think they are doing good in the world, whereas in reality they aren’t.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتُ عَدۡنٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ يُحَلَّوۡنَ فِيهَا مِنۡ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٖ وَيَلۡبَسُونَ ثِيَابًا خُضۡرٗا مِّن سُندُسٖ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٖ مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِۚ نِعۡمَ ٱلثَّوَابُ وَحَسُنَتۡ مُرۡتَفَقٗا

Transliteration:( Ulaaa'ika lahum Jannaatu 'Adnin tajree min tahtihimul anhaaru yuhallawna feehaa min asaawira min zahabinw wa yalbasoona siyaaban khudram min sundusinw wa istabraqim muttaki'eena feehaa 'alal araaa'ik; ni'mas sawaab; wa hasunat murtafaqaa (section 4) )
31. For them are Gardens of Eternity beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold [74], and will wear green garments of silk [75] and heavy brocade [76]. They will be reclining on raised couches. What an excellent reward and what a beautiful resting place!

۞وَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُم مَّثَلٗا رَّجُلَيۡنِ جَعَلۡنَا لِأَحَدِهِمَا جَنَّتَيۡنِ مِنۡ أَعۡنَٰبٖ وَحَفَفۡنَٰهُمَا بِنَخۡلٖ وَجَعَلۡنَا بَيۡنَهُمَا زَرۡعٗا

Transliteration:( Wadrib lahum masalar rajulaini ja'alnaa li ahadihimaa jannataini min a'naabinw wa hafafnaahumaa binakhilinw wa ja'alnaa bainahumaa zar'aa )
32. And present to them the example of two men [77]. We made for one of them two gardens of grapes and surrounded them with date palms, and placed crops in between [78].

كِلۡتَا ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ ءَاتَتۡ أُكُلَهَا وَلَمۡ تَظۡلِم مِّنۡهُ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ وَفَجَّرۡنَا خِلَٰلَهُمَا نَهَرٗا

Transliteration:( Kiltal jannataini aatat ukulahaa wa lam tazlim minhu shai'anw wa fajjarnaa khi laalahumaa naharaa )
33. Both gardens produced their fruit [79] and did not fail in anything [80]. We also caused rivers to gush forth between them [81].

وَكَانَ لَهُۥ ثَمَرٞ فَقَالَ لِصَٰحِبِهِۦ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَنَا۠ أَكۡثَرُ مِنكَ مَالٗا وَأَعَزُّ نَفَرٗا

Transliteration:( Wa kaana lahoo samarun faqaala lisaahibihee wa huwa yuhaawiruhoo ana aksaru minka maalanw wa a'azzu nafaraa )
34. And he had fruits [82]. He said to his companion, while he was arguing with him, “I have greater wealth than you and am more powerful [83] in terms of followers [84].”

وَدَخَلَ جَنَّتَهُۥ وَهُوَ ظَالِمٞ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ قَالَ مَآ أَظُنُّ أَن تَبِيدَ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أَبَدٗا

Transliteration:( Wa dakhala jannatahoo wa huwa zaalimul linafsihee qaala maaa azunnu an tabeeda haaziheee abadaa )
35. And he entered his garden while wronging his soul. He said, [85] “I do not think that it will ever perish [86].”

وَمَآ أَظُنُّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَآئِمَةٗ وَلَئِن رُّدِدتُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي لَأَجِدَنَّ خَيۡرٗا مِّنۡهَا مُنقَلَبٗا

Transliteration:( Wa maaa azunnus Saa'ata qaaa'imatanw wa la'ir rudittu ilaa Rabbee la ajidanna khairam minhaa munqalabaa )
36. And I do not think that the Hour will ever come [87], and even if I am returned [88] to my Lord, I will surely find better than this as a place of return [89].

قَالَ لَهُۥ صَاحِبُهُۥ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَكَفَرۡتَ بِٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكَ مِن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةٖ ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰكَ رَجُلٗا

Transliteration:( Qaala lahoo saahibuhoo wa huwa yuhaawiruhooo akafarta billazee khalaqaka min turaabin summa min nutfatin summa sawwaaka rajulaa )
37. His companion replied to him while arguing, “Do you disbelieve in Him Who created you from dust [90], then from a drop of fluid [91], and then made you a complete man?”

لَّـٰكِنَّا۠ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّي وَلَآ أُشۡرِكُ بِرَبِّيٓ أَحَدٗا

Transliteration:( Laakinaa Huwal laahu Rabbee wa laa ushriku bi Rabbeee ahadaa )
38. But I say only this: He, Allah, is my Lord, and I associate none with my Lord [92].

وَلَوۡلَآ إِذۡ دَخَلۡتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلۡتَ مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِۚ إِن تَرَنِ أَنَا۠ أَقَلَّ مِنكَ مَالٗا وَوَلَدٗا

Transliteration:( Wa law laaa iz dakhalta jannataka qulta maa shaaa'al laahu laa quwwata illaa billaah; in tarani ana aqalla minka maalanw wa waladaa )
39. And why did you not say, when you entered your garden, "As Allah wills; there is no power except with Allah" [93], if you see me as less than you in wealth and offspring?

فَعَسَىٰ رَبِّيٓ أَن يُؤۡتِيَنِ خَيۡرٗا مِّن جَنَّتِكَ وَيُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡهَا حُسۡبَانٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتُصۡبِحَ صَعِيدٗا زَلَقًا

Transliteration:( Fa'asaa Rabeee any yu'tiyani khairam min jannatika wa yursila 'alaihaa husbaanam minas samaaa'i fatusbiha sa'eedan zalaqaa )
40. Then perhaps my Lord will give me something better [94] than your garden and send down a thunderbolt [95] from the sky upon it, so that it becomes a bare, slippery land [96].
