The summary/theme of the surah an-nahl:

It presents very persuasive proofs of Tawhid and refutation of shirk based on clear signs in the universe and in man's own creation. It answers the objections of the disbelievers, refutes their arguments, and removes their doubts. It warns against the consequences of persisting in false ways.

Lesson learned from surah an-nahl:

  1. There are innumerable blessings and signs of Allah's pointing to His existence and supremacy.  
  2. If you try to count the favours of Allah's, you will be unable to do so.  
  3. For those who do good, they will witness the fruits of that good in this very world, as well as in the Hereafter.[1]  
  4. The people of Jannah will get whatever they desire.  
  5. When Allah's wants something to happen, He merely says ‘Be’ and it happens.  
  6. Ask the people who know if you yourself don’t.  
  7. If Allah's was to punish the people immediately for every sin they committed, there would be no living thing left on earth.[2]  
  8. Allah's orders all things good, and forbids all evil.  
  9. Whatever is with us in the world will cease to exist; whatever is with Allah's [reward] will remain forever.  
  10. Whoever does good in this world, be it male or female, will be granted a good life in this world together with the reward in the Hereafter.  
  11. When you recite the Quran, you should start with seeking refuge in Allah's from Shayá¹­'n.  
  12. Ingratitude leads to great depravation in this world, as well as the Hereafter.  
  13. Da‘wah (calling towards Allah's) should be done with wisdom and good admonition.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

۞وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ إِلَٰهَيۡنِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِۖ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞ فَإِيَّـٰيَ فَٱرۡهَبُونِ

Transliteration:( Wa qaalal laahu laa tatta khizooo ilaahainis naini innamaa Huwa Ilaahunw Waahid; fa iyyaaya farhaboon )
51. And Allah has said [105], "Take not two gods; He is only One God. So fear Me alone [106]."

وَلَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًاۚ أَفَغَيۡرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa lahoo maa fis samaawaati wal ardi wa lahud deenu waasibaa; afaghairal laahi tattaqoon )
52. And whatever is in the heavens and the earth [107] belongs to Allah, and obedience to Him is incumbent [108]. Will you then fear anyone other than Allah?

وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعۡمَةٖ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِۖ ثُمَّ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فَإِلَيۡهِ تَجۡـَٔرُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa maa bikum minni'matin faminal laahi summa izaa massakumud durru fa ilaihi taj'aroon )
53. And whatever blessing you have is from Allah [109]. Then, when adversity touches you, you cry out to Him for help.

ثُمَّ إِذَا كَشَفَ ٱلضُّرَّ عَنكُمۡ إِذَا فَرِيقٞ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ يُشۡرِكُونَ

Transliteration:( Summaa izaa kashafad durra 'ankum izaa fareequm minkum bi Rabbihim yushrikoon )
54. Then, when He removes the harm from you, a faction among you begins to associate partners with their Lord [110].

لِيَكۡفُرُواْ بِمَآ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡۚ فَتَمَتَّعُواْ فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

Transliteration:( Liyakfuroo bimaa aatainaahum; fatamatta'oo, fasawfa ta'lamoon )
55. So that they may be ungrateful for what We have given them. Enjoy yourselves for a while, but you will soon come to know.

وَيَجۡعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ نَصِيبٗا مِّمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡۗ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمۡ تَفۡتَرُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa yaj'aloona limaa laa ya'lamoona naseebam mimmaa razaqnnaahum; tallaahi latus'alunaa 'ammaa kuntum taftaroon )
56. And they assign a portion of what We have provided [111] them to things they have no knowledge of [112]. By Allah, you will surely be questioned about what you used to fabricate [113].

وَيَجۡعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡبَنَٰتِ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ وَلَهُم مَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa yaj'aloona lillaahil banaati Subhaanahoo wa lahum maa yashtahoon )
57. And they attribute daughters to Allah [114] — Glory be to Him! — and for themselves, they desire what they wish [115].

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجۡهُهُۥ مُسۡوَدّٗا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٞ

Transliteration:( Wa izaa bushshira ahaduhum bil unsaa zalla wajhuhoo muswaddanw wa huwa kazeem )
58. And when anyone is given glad tidings of the birth of a girl, his face becomes dark and he suppresses his anger [116].

يَتَوَٰرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ مِن سُوٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓۚ أَيُمۡسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمۡ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِي ٱلتُّرَابِۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَحۡكُمُونَ

Transliteration:( yatawaaraa minal qawmimin sooo'i maa bushshira bih; a-yumsikuhoo 'alaa hoonin am yadussuhoo fit turaab; alaa saaa'a maa yahkumoon )
59. He hides himself from the people because of the bad news [117] he received. Will he keep the disgrace [118] or bury it in the dust [119]? Lo! They are very bad judges [120].

لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوۡءِۖ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

Transliteration:( Lillazeena laa yu'minoona bil Aakhirati masalus saw'i wa lillaahil masalul a'laa; wa Huwal 'Azeezul Hakeem )
60. The conditions of those who do not believe in the hereafter are bad [121], and the Glory of Allah is the Loftiest [122], And He is the Most Powerful and the Most Wise.
