Transliteration:( yas'aluka Ahlul Kitaabi an tunazzila 'alaihim Kitaabam minas samaaa'i faqad sa aloo Moosaa akbara min zaalika faqaaloo arinal laaha jahratan fa akhazat humus saa'iqatu bizulmihim; summat takhazul 'ijla mim ba'di maa jaa'at humul baiyinaatu fa'afawnaa 'ann zaalik; wa aatainaa Moosaa sultaanam mubeenaa )
153.(O Beloved Prophet Muhammad) The people of the Book ask you to reveal to them [439] another book from the heaven. But, they had asked Musa (even) a greater thing than this and said: "Show us Allah openly." Then the thunderbolt overtook them for their wrongdoing [440]. Then they took to the worship of the calf after clear signs [441] had come to them. But We pardoned [442] even that and gave Musa clear dominance [443].

154. And then We raised Mount Tur over them for taking a covenant [444] with them, and said to them: "Enter the gate [445] prostrating." And We said to them: "Do not transgress in the matter of Sabbath [446]." And We took from them a firm covenant.

Transliteration:( Fabimaa naqdihim meesaaqahum wa kufrihim bi Aayaatil laahi wa qatlihimul Ambiyaaa'a bighairi haqqinw wa qawlihim quloobunaa ghulf; bal taba'al laahu 'alaihaa bikufrihim falaa yu'minoona illaa qaleelaa )
155. Then We cursed them because they violated the covenant and that they denied [447] the signs of Allah, and killed the Prophets [448] unjustly, and for their saying: "Our hearts are wrapped." But Allah has sealed their hearts [449] due to their disbelief [450], so they believe not, except for a few.

Transliteration:( Wa bikufrihim wa qawlihim 'alaa Maryama buh taanan 'azeema )
156. And We cursed them for their infidelity and for their very grave slander against Mariam [451].

Transliteration:( Wa qawlihim innaa qatal nal maseeha 'Eesab-na-Maryama Rasoolal laahi wa maa qataloohu wa maa salaboohu wa laakin shubbiha lahum; wa innal lazeenakh talafoo feehee lafee shakkim minh; maa lahum bihee min 'ilmin illat tibaa'az zann; wa maa qataloohu yaqeenaa )
157. And for their saying: "Indeed, We have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Mariam, Messenger of Allah [452]. Whereas they slew him not and neither crucified him, but another was made to resemble him [453] for them. And indeed those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have not the least knowledge about it [454], but are merely following conjecture. And indeed, they slew him not.

Transliteration:( Bar rafa'ahul laahu ilayh; wa kaanal laahu 'Azeezan Hakeemaa )
158. But, Allah raised him towards Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Might, the Wise [455].

Transliteration:( Wa im min Ahlil Kitaabi illaa layu'minanna bihee qabla mawtihee wa Yawmal Qiyaamati yakoonu 'alaihim shaheedaa )
159. And there is none among the People of the Book who will not believe in him [456], before his death, and on the Day of Judgement he will be a witness against them [457].

Transliteration:( Fabizulmin minal lazeena haadoo harramnaa 'alaihim taiyibaatin uhillat lahum wa bisadihim 'an sabeelil laahi kaseeraa )
160. Then on account of the great injustice of the Yahud, We made unlawful for them some of those pure things that were lawful [458], and because of their hindering many from the way of Allah [459].

This sûrah mainly describes about the rights of women (as its name implies), the law of inheritance, orphan care, lawful and unlawful marriage partners, and a demonstration of justice in verses 105-112. Later on, it transitions to cover striving for Allāh's cause as well as relations between Muslims and People of the Book; it culminates with a response to claims about Jesus's ( ï·º ) crucifixion and divinity. This sûrah joins its predecessors and successors by bringing up the topic of hypocrisy – a recurring theme in many.
