The summary/theme of the Surah Ar-Rum:

 In this Surah, a large part of the verses talk about the divine bounties in heaven and on earth, the conjugality system in plants and animals, the creation of man from dust, the relationship between a man and a woman, work during the day and sleep at night, rain, winds, and the revival of the earth.

Lesson learned from Surah Ar-Rum:

  1. To Allah's belongs all matters, at all times.  
  2. Allah's does not go against His promise.  
  3. Most people are aware of the superficial things regarding the worldly life, but are neglectful of the life Hereafter.  
  4. Allah's created spouses so that they find tranquillity in one another.  
  5. It’s worrying how in difficulty and when faced with adversity, we remember Allah's, yet when He blesses us with some goodness, we forget Him.  
  6. Allah's opens up sustenance for whomsoever He wishes, and restricts it from whomsoever He wishes.  
  7. Corruption spreads in the land and the sea due to the evils of the people, so that Allah's may show them the consequences of their actions, and that they may repent.  
  8. Travel the world and observe how the people of the past met their ends.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنۡ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا لِّتَسۡكُنُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيۡنَكُم مَّوَدَّةٗ وَرَحۡمَةًۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa min Aayaatiheee an khalaqa lakum min anfusikum azwaajal litaskunooo ilaihaa wa ja'ala bainakum mawad datanw wa rahmah; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yatafakkaroon )
21. And one of His signs is that he created for you couples( 39) from among yourselves, that you might find enjoyment (40) in them. And He placed love (41) and mercy between you. Surely in it are signs for people who ponder (42).

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ خَلۡقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱخۡتِلَٰفُ أَلۡسِنَتِكُمۡ وَأَلۡوَٰنِكُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلۡعَٰلِمِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa min Aayaatihee khalqus samaawaati wal aardi wakhtilaafu alsinatikum wa alwaanikum; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil lil'aalimeen )
22.And one of His signs is the creation [43] of the heavens and the earth. And the diversity [44] of your language and colours. No doubt, in it are signs for those who hear.

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ مَنَامُكُم بِٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱبۡتِغَآؤُكُم مِّن فَضۡلِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَسۡمَعُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa min Aayaatihee manaamukum bil laili wannahaari wabtighaaa'ukum min fadlih; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yasma'oon )
23.And one of His signs is your sleeping by night and by day, and your seeking [45] of His bounty. Surely in it are signs for people who hear [46].

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ يُرِيكُمُ ٱلۡبَرۡقَ خَوۡفٗا وَطَمَعٗا وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَيُحۡيِۦ بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَآۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa min Aayaatihee yureekumul barqa khawfanw wa tama'anw wa yunazzilu minas samaaa'i maaa'an fa yuhyee bihil arda ba'da mawtihaaa inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy ya'qiloon )
24. And one of His signs is that He shows you lightning for fear and hope [47], and sends down water from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death. No doubt in it are signs for people who understand [48].

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَن تَقُومَ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ بِأَمۡرِهِۦۚ ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمۡ دَعۡوَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِذَآ أَنتُمۡ تَخۡرُجُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa min Aayaatihee an taqoomas samaaa'u wal ardu bi-amrih; summa izaa da'aakum da'watam minal ardi izaaa antum takhrujoon )
25. And one of His signs is that the heavens and the earth stand firm by His command [49]. Then when He will call you [50] from the earth you will come forthwith (51).

وَلَهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ كُلّٞ لَّهُۥ قَٰنِتُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa lahoo man fissamaawaati wal ardi kullul lahoo qaanitoon )
26. And to Him belong whomsoever is in the beavens and the earth. All are under His Command [52].

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَهُوَ أَهۡوَنُ عَلَيۡهِۚ وَلَهُ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

Transliteration:( Wa Huwal lazee yabda'ul khalqa summa yu'eeduhoo wa huwa ahwanu 'alaih; wa lahul masalul a'laa fissamaawaati wal-ard; wa Huwal 'Azeezul Hakeem (section 3) )
27.And it is He who creates, then He reproduces [53] it (after death). And it is most easy for Him (54). And for Him are the most exalted attributes in the heavens and the earth (55). And He is the Honourable, the Wise.

ضَرَبَ لَكُم مَّثَلٗا مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡۖ هَل لَّكُم مِّن مَّا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُم مِّن شُرَكَآءَ فِي مَا رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡ فَأَنتُمۡ فِيهِ سَوَآءٞ تَخَافُونَهُمۡ كَخِيفَتِكُمۡ أَنفُسَكُمۡۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لِقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ

Transliteration:( Daraba lakum masalam min anfusikum hal lakum mimmaa malakat aymaanukum min shurakaaa'a fee maa razaqnaakum fa antum feehi sawaaa'un takhaafoonahum kakheefa tikum anfusakum; kazaalika nufassilul Aayaati liqawminy ya'qiloon )
28.He narrates [56] for you an example from your own condition. Have you, among those whom your right hand possesses made partners in what We have provided for you, So that you will become equal [57] therein, and you fear (58) for each other? Thus do We explain the detailed signs for people who understand.

بَلِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُم بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٖۖ فَمَن يَهۡدِي مَنۡ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ

Transliteration:( Balit taba'al lazeena zalamooo ahwaaa'ahum bighairi 'ilmin famai yahdee man adallal laahu wa maa lahum min naasireen )
29. Nay, the unjust follow their own desires without knowledge [59]. Then, who will guide such a person, whom Allah has led astray [60]? And they have no helpers (61),

فَأَقِمۡ وَجۡهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفٗاۚ فِطۡرَتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِي فَطَرَ ٱلنَّاسَ عَلَيۡهَاۚ لَا تَبۡدِيلَ لِخَلۡقِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

Transliteration:( Fa aqim wajhaka liddeeni Haneefaa; fitratal laahil latee fataran naasa 'alaihaa; laa taabdeela likhalqil laah; zaalikad deenul qaiyimu wa laakinna aksaran naasi laa ya'lamoon )
30. Therefore, set right your face [62] for the obedience [63] of Allah, being one devoted to Him only. That is the established pattern of Allah, upon which He has created (64) mankind. There is no change (65) in the created things of Allah. This is the only right religion (66). But most of the people do not know.
