Summary/Theme of Surah Fuṣṣilat

According to this Surah, the Qur'an cannot be changed by noise and falsehoods. Whether the falsehood comes from the front or makes an indirect attack from behind, it cannot succeed in refuting it.

Lessons Learned from Surah Fuṣṣilat

  1. Destruction of 'Aad and Thamud:

    • The people of 'Aad were destroyed by a severe wind that blew for days. They thought there was no one stronger than them.
    • The people of Thamud were destroyed by a scream.
  2. Testimony on the Day of Judgement:

    • The ears, eyes, and skin of the people of Jahannam will testify against them on the Day of Judgement. They will ask, ‘Why did you testify against us?!’ They will say, ‘The being who has the power to make things speak, made us speak. [We had no choice].’
  3. Distraction Tactics of Disbelievers:

    • The disbelievers would say to each other, ‘Do not listen to this Qur'an, rather, create distractions when it's being recited so that you may overpower its effect.’
  4. Comfort for the Believers:

    • Those who believe and thereafter stay steadfast will be comforted by angels at the time of death and in the Hereafter.
  5. Good Character:

    • Always show good character in dealings. If you do, even the staunchest enemy shall be won over.
  6. Seeking Refuge in Allah:

    • If you feel Shayṭān is trying his work on you, seek refuge in Allah.
  7. Independence of Allah:

    • Allah is not in need of anyone worshipping Him. Despite that, there is no shortage of anyone worshipping Him from His creation.
  8. Personal Accountability:

    • Whoever does good will benefit himself, and whoever does evil will harm himself.
  9. Human Nature and Despondency:

    • Man never tires from asking for good, but when he is afflicted with something, he becomes despondent.
    • When a man is blessed with goodness after hardship by Allah, he thinks of it as his right, and turns to disobedience of Allah.
  10. Turning to Allah in Hardship:

    • When Allah blesses man, he turns away from Allah, yet when he is afflicted with troubles, he turns to Allah in lengthy prayers.
  11. Signs of Allah:

    • Allah will continue to show people signs from within and from afar until the truth becomes clear to them.

44.Had We made it, the Quran, in a foreign [117] language, they would definitely have said [118]: "Why have its verses not been made clear [119]?" "Why, this is a foreign language, but you (Prophet) are an Arab [120]." Please declare: "That is a guidance and a healer [121] for the believers." But the infidels have deafness [122] in their ears and blindness [123] in them. They are like those who are called [124] from a far-off place.

45. And certainly We bestowed upon Musa a Book, but differences were made therein. And if a Word had not gone before from your[125] Lord, then the matter would have been decided [126] between them. And surely, they are in a confusing doubt about it.

Transliteration:( Man 'amila salihan falinafsihee wa man asaaa'a fa'alaihaa; wamaa rabbuka bizallaamil lil 'abeed (End Juz 24) )
46. "Whoever does righteous deeds, it is for his own good [127], and whoever commits evil deeds, it is to his own detriment. Then to your Lord, you will be returned [to hear its result]. And your Lord is not unjust [128] to His servants."

Transliteration:( Ilaihi yuraddu 'ilmus Saaa'ah; wa maa takhruju min samaraatim min akmaamihaa wa maa tahmilu min unsaa wa laa tada'u illaa bi'ilmih; wa Yawma yunaadeehim aina shurakaaa'ee qaalooo aazannaaka maa minnaa min shaheed )
47.The knowledge of the Hour is referred [129] to Him alone. And no fruit comes forth from its sheath, and neither any female bears nor brings forth (a child), but He has the knowledge (130) about it. And on the day when He will call them: "Where are My associates (131)" They will say: "We have already professed to You that there is no witness (132) among us for them".

Transliteration:( Wa dalla 'anhum maa kaanoo yad'oona min qablu wa zannoo maa lahum mim mahees )
48.And those whom they used to worship before [133] will be lost from them and they will know [134] for certain that they have no place of escape.

Transliteration:( Laa yas'amul insaanu min du'aaa'il khairi wa im massa hush sharru fa ya'oosun qanoot )
49. A human being does not try [135] in praying for good. but if any evil touches him, then he loses hope, becoming full of despair [136]

Transliteration:( Wa la in azaqnaahu rahmatam minnaa mim ba'di dar raaa'a massat hu la yaqoolanna haazaa lee wa maaa azunnus Saa'ata qaaa'imatanw wa la'in ruji'tu ilaa Rabbeee inna lee 'indahoo lalhusnaa; falanu nabbi'annal lazeena kafaroo bimaa 'amiloo wa lanuzeeqan nahum min 'azaabin ghaleez )
50. And if We make him taste Our Mercy after hardship befalls [137] him. he will certainly say: "This is my own due [138], and in my opinion the Hour will not come. And even if I am returned to my Lord, certainly for me there is good (139) with Him.
