بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

الٓرۚ كِتَٰبٌ أُحۡكِمَتۡ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتۡ مِن لَّدُنۡ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ

Transliteration:( Alif-Laaam-Raa; Kitaabun uhkimat Aayaatuhoo summa fussilat mil ladun Hakeemin Khabeer )
1. Alif Lam Ra. This is a Book [1] whose verses have been perfected [2] and then explained in detail [3] by One who is Wise and All-Aware [4].

أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّنِي لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِيرٞ وَبَشِيرٞ

Transliteration:( Allaa ta'budooo illal laah; innanee lakum minhu nazeerunw wa basheer )
2. That you should worship none but Allah. Surely, I am to you a warner from Him and a bearer of glad tidings [5].

وَأَنِ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ يُمَتِّعۡكُم مَّتَٰعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗى وَيُؤۡتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضۡلٖ فَضۡلَهُۥۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٖ كَبِيرٍ

Transliteration:( Wa anis taghfiroo Rabbakum summa toobooo ilaihi yumatti'kum mataa'an hasanan ilaaa ajalim musammanw wa yu'ti kulla zee fadlin fadlahoo wa in tawallaw fa inneee akhaafu 'alaikum 'azaaba Yawmin Kabeer )
3. And that you ask forgiveness from your Lord, then repent to Him [6]. He will give you a good provision until an appointed term and will bestow His grace [7] upon everyone who deserves grace. But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a great Day [8].

إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration:( Ilal laahi marji'ukum wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shai'in Qadeer )
4. To Allah is your return [9], and He is Powerful over everything [10].

أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ يَثۡنُونَ صُدُورَهُمۡ لِيَسۡتَخۡفُواْ مِنۡهُۚ أَلَا حِينَ يَسۡتَغۡشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعۡلِنُونَۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

Transliteration:( Alaa innahum yasnoona sudoorahum liyastakhfoo minh; alaa heena yastaghshoona siyaabahum ya'lamu maa yusirroona wa maa yu'linoon; innahoo 'aleemun bizaatis sudoor (End Juz 11) )
5. Behold, they fold up their breasts to conceal their thoughts from Allah [11]. Behold, when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they hide and what they reveal [12]. Indeed, He is the Knower of all that is hidden within the hearts.

۞وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٖ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزۡقُهَا وَيَعۡلَمُ مُسۡتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعَهَاۚ كُلّٞ فِي كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٖ

Transliteration:( Wa maa min daaabbatin fil ardi illaa 'alal laahi rizquhaa wa ya'lamu mustaqarrahaa wa mustawda'ahaa; kullun fee Kitaabim Mubeen )
6. And there is no creature on earth [13] whose provision is not upon Allah [14]. He knows its dwelling place and its storage place [15]. All is recorded in a clear book [16].

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَكَانَ عَرۡشُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡمَآءِ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗاۗ وَلَئِن قُلۡتَ إِنَّكُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ لَيَقُولَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ

Transliteration:( Wa Huwal lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda fee sittati aiyaaminw wa kaana 'Arshuhoo alal maaa'i liyabluwakum aiyukum ahsanu 'amalaa; wa la'in qulta innakum mab'oosoona min ba'dil mawti la yaqoolannal lazeena kafaroo in haazaaa illaa sihrum mubeen )
7. And it is He Who created the heavens and the earth in six days [17], and His Throne was on the water, that He might test you as to which of you is best in deeds [18]. And if you say, 'Indeed, you shall be raised after death,' then those who disbelieve will surely say, 'This is nothing but clear magic [19].'

وَلَئِنۡ أَخَّرۡنَا عَنۡهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ مَّعۡدُودَةٖ لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحۡبِسُهُۥٓۗ أَلَا يَوۡمَ يَأۡتِيهِمۡ لَيۡسَ مَصۡرُوفًا عَنۡهُمۡ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

Transliteration:( Wala'in akharnaa 'anhumul 'azaaba ilaaa ummatim ma'doodatil la yaqoolunna maa yahbisuh; alaa yawma ya'teehim laisa masroofan 'anhum wa haaqa bihim maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon )
8. And if We were to delay the punishment from them for a specified time [20], they would surely say, "What is keeping it back?" Know that on the day it comes to them, it will not be turned away from them, and they will be surrounded by the very punishment they used to mock [21].

وَلَئِنۡ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنَّا رَحۡمَةٗ ثُمَّ نَزَعۡنَٰهَا مِنۡهُ إِنَّهُۥ لَيَـُٔوسٞ كَفُورٞ

Transliteration:( Wa la'in azaqnal insaana minnaa rahmatan summa naza'naahaa minhu, innahoo laya'oosun kafoor )
9. And if We allow man to experience [21] Our mercy and then withdraw it from him, he becomes despairing and ungrateful.

وَلَئِنۡ أَذَقۡنَٰهُ نَعۡمَآءَ بَعۡدَ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتۡهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتُ عَنِّيٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَفَرِحٞ فَخُورٌ

Transliteration:( Wala'in azaqnaahu na'maaa'a ba'da darraaa'a massat hu la yaqoolanna zahabas saiyiaatu 'anneee; innahoo lafarihun fakhoor )
10. And if We grant him ease and blessings after hardship has touched him, he will certainly say [22], "The hardships have departed from me." Indeed, he is exultant and boastful [23].

According to the Glorious Quran, Surah Hud is the 11th chapter (surah). Surah Hud has 123 ayaat (verses) and was revealed in Makkah before Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated to Medina. There are two parts to this surah: 11th juz contains verses 1-5 and 12th juz contains verses 6-12.

This Surah was revealed during the latter period of the Prophet's time in Makkah, and likely straight after Surah Yunus. Allah is the One Who nourishes and sustains all beings. The Qur'an contains the direct Word of Allah and is not fabricated by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Different styles of lectures from Nuh, Hud, Saleh, Lut and Shu'aib were given to their people who rejected the prophets' messages that brought them misfortune. Through this Surah, Allah has taught us virtuousness that will eliminate wickedness, also granting man freedom to choose whether to believe or not.

This Surah emphasizes the importance of accepting Allah's message, obeying the Prophet, and discarding shirk. People should live with the knowledge that they will be held accountable for their actions on the Day of Judgement. It serves as a warning to those who put their faith in worldly life and reject the Prophets' messages, for they often face unpleasant consequences. Furthermore, one should not be deceived by a delay in punishment - it is only a grace from Allah to give them respite and time to mend their ways. As exemplified by the stories of Nuh, Hud, Saleh, Lut, Shu'aib and Musa in Al-Qur'an, Allah does not spare any disbeliever even if they happen to be close relatives of a Prophet. The stories of Nuh and Lut also demonstrate that one's relationship should revolve around faith rather than earthly ties.
