    The summary/theme of the surah Luqman:

     Luqman, a wise man who dispenses advice to his son in verses 12-19, gives the surah its name. According to the verse, those who follow Shirk are blindly following their forefathers. To be wise, one must believe in Allah. The verse reiterates one's gratitude and obedience to one's parents. 

    Lesson learned from surah Luqman:

    1. Those who try to divert the attention of people from the Book of Allah's shall receive a painful punishment.  
    2. Ponder over the favours of Allah's and show gratitude.  
    3. Whoever is grateful to Allah's only benefits him/herself, whilst whoever is ungrateful, Allah's is independent of his gratitude.  
    4. Shirk is the greatest oppression.  
    5. Do good to your parents who went through great difficulties in bringing you up.  
    6. Even if they tell you to commit shirk, don’t obey them, but still be courteous to them.  
    7. Nothing escapes the knowledge of Allah's.  
    8. Be patient upon afflictions.  
    9. Don’t walk arrogantly.  
    10. Don’t raise your voice unnecessarily.  
    11. Only Allah's has knowledge of 5 things:  
    12. The time of the Hour  
    13. Of rainfall  
    14. Of what in in the wombs  
    15. What will happen tomorrow  
    16. Where people will die.

    4.They are those who establish [4] prayer and pay poor-due (Zakaat) and have firm faith in the (5) Hereafter.

    أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدٗى مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ

    Transliteration:( Ulaaa'ika 'alaa hudam mir Rabbihim wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon )

    وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَشۡتَرِي لَهۡوَ ٱلۡحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٖ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًاۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ

    Transliteration:( Wa minan naasi mai-yashtaree lahwal haddesi li yudilla 'an sabeelil laahi bighairi 'ilminw wa yattakhizahaa huzuwaa; ulaaa'ika lahum 'azaabum muheen )
    6. And there are some among the people who buy words for mere playing[7] that they may mislead others from the path of Allah, without knowledge[8] and to make fun of it. For them is a bumiliating punishment(9).

    وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسۡتَكۡبِرٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ يَسۡمَعۡهَا كَأَنَّ فِيٓ أُذُنَيۡهِ وَقۡرٗاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

    Transliteration:( Wa izaa tutlaa 'alayhi Aayaatunaa wallaa mustakbiran ka al lam yasma'haa ka anna feee uzunaihi waqran fabash shiru bi'azaabin aleem )
    7.And when Our Verses are recited to him, he turns proudly away, as though he did not hear them, and as if there was heaviness [10] in his ears. Therefore give the news of a painful punishment.

    خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ بِغَيۡرِ عَمَدٖ تَرَوۡنَهَاۖ وَأَلۡقَىٰ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَوَٰسِيَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمۡ وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٖۚ وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجٖ كَرِيمٍ

    Transliteration:( Khalaqas samaawaati bi ghairi 'amadin tarawnahaa wa alqaa fil ardi rawaasiya an tameeda bikum wa bassa feehaa min kulli daaabbah; wa anzalnaa minas samaaa'i maaa'an fa ambatnaa feeha min kulli zawjin kareem )
    10. He has created the heavens without pillars that you can see [12] and put in it anchors, lest it shakes [13] with you, and He has scattered (14) therein all kinds of animals. And We sent down water from the sky (15), then We caused to grow in the earth every fine pair (16) of plants.
