This Surah contains 109 verses, and its main topics are monotheism, the authenticity of the Qur'an, answers to those who deny revelation, inspiring fear in the unbelievers, revealing the glory and magnitude of creation and of the Creator, and the irreversibility of the world.

Lesson learned from  Surah Yunus:

  1. There are numerous signs of Allah's within His creation.

  1. Out of various benefits of Sura Yunos,1 is If you recites this surah once in two or three months would have no fear of going into the camp of those who live in ignorance (infidels); and Allah would raise him on the day of judgement in the group of the favourites of Allah.

  3. “For those who do good is the best reward and more. Neither darkness nor ignominy shall cover their faces. They are the dwellers of the garden where they will abide for ever.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّي عَمَلِي وَلَكُمۡ عَمَلُكُمۡۖ أَنتُم بَرِيٓـُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعۡمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa in kazzabooka faqul lee 'amalee wa lakum 'amalukum antum bareee'oona mimmaaa a'malu wa ana bareee'um mimmaa ta'maloon )
41. And if they falsify you, then say: "For me are my deeds [122], and for you are your deeds. You are not responsible for what I do, and I am not responsible for what you do [123]."

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَسۡتَمِعُونَ إِلَيۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa minhum mai yastami'oona iliak; afa anta tusmi'us summa wa law kaanoo laa ya'qiloon )
42. And among them are some who listen [124] to you. Then will you make the deaf hear [125], even though they do not understand?

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهۡدِي ٱلۡعُمۡيَ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يُبۡصِرُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa minhum mai yanzuru ilaik; afa anta tahdil 'umya wa law kaanoo laa yubsiroon )
43. And among them is one who looks [126] at you, but will you guide the blind [127], even though they do not see?

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظۡلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ يَظۡلِمُونَ

Transliteration:( Innal laaha laa yazlimun naasa shai'anw wa laakin nannaasa anfusahum yazlimoon )
44. Surely Allah is not at all unjust [128] to mankind, but men do injustice to themselves [129].

وَيَوۡمَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهۡتَدِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa Yawma yahshuruhum ka 'an lam yalbasooo illaa saa'atan minan nahaari yata'aarafoona bainahum; qad khasiral lazeena kazzaboo bi liqaaa'il laahi wa maa kaanoo muhtadeen )
45. And on the Day when He will gather them, it will be as if they had not remained [130] in the world except for an hour [131] of the day. They will recognize one another [132]. Those who had denied the meeting with Allah will have certainly lost [133], and they were not rightly guided.

وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa imma nuriyannaka ba'dal lazee na'iduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa ilainaa marji'uhum thummal laahu shaheedun 'alaa maa yaf'aloon )
46. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them [134] or We take you [135] before that (as they too must return to Us [136]), Allah is a Witness over what they do.

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولٞۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمۡ قُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ

Transliteration:( Wa likulli ummatir Rasoolun fa izaa jaaa'a Rasooluhum qudiya bainahum bilqisti wa hum laa yuzlamoon )
47. And for every nation there has been a Messenger [137]. When their Messenger came to them, it was judged between them with justice [138], and they were not wronged.

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa'du in kuntum saadiqeen )
48. And they say: "When will this promise [139] come if you are truthful [140]?"

قُل لَّآ أَمۡلِكُ لِنَفۡسِي ضَرّٗا وَلَا نَفۡعًا إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۚ إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةٗ وَلَا يَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ

Transliteration:( Qul laaa amliku linafsee darranw wa laa naf'an illaa maa shaaa'al laah; likulli ummatin ajalun izaa jaaa'a ajaluhum fa laaa yasta'khiroona saa'atanw wa laa yastaqdimoon )
49. Say: "I have no power to benefit or harm myself except as Allah wills. For every nation there is a term [142]. When their term comes, they cannot delay it by an hour, nor can they advance it [143]."

قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَٰتًا أَوۡ نَهَارٗا مَّاذَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

Transliteration:( Qul 'a ra'aytum in ataakum 'azaabuhoo bayaatan aw nahaaran maazaa yasta'jilu minhul mujrimoon )
50. Say: "Tell me, if His punishment comes upon you by night or day [144], what is there that the guilty are hastening [145] for?"

It has 109 ayaat (verses) and was revealed in Makkah before Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) migrated to Medina. This surah is found in juz/paara 11.

This Surah was revealed during the last stage of the Prophet's residence at Makkah, and dealt with Allah being the only Creator of this universe. The mushrikin were warned against worshiping deities other than Allah, as these have no power to either benefit or harm anyone, nor are they even aware that they are being worshiped. Guidance was provided as to how each nation was sent a Rasool for guidance; Al-Qur'an having a cure for all the problems of mankind; Mushrikin following nothing but conjectures; detailed discussions on the stories of Nuh and Musa and Fir'on; and warnings against forcing anyone to convert to Islam.

This chapter calls upon those who were hesitant to accept the Prophet's message, as they found it strange that a human being was imparting the divine words of Allah. But this is neither strange nor related to sorcery. He simply informed them of two essential facts: firstly, that Allah, the Creator of all things, is your Lord and only He merits worship, and secondly, that in the hereafter you will be held to account for how you lived in this world. Whether you agree with these truths or not, they are realities and if accepted can bring salvation; otherwise, you will suffer due to your misdeeds.
