    كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡعَذَابُۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَكۡبَرُۚ لَوۡ كَانُواْ يَعۡلَمُونَ

    33. Such is the punishment here, and certainly, the punishment of the Hereafter is greater. [31] Did they but know? [32]

    32."It may be that our Lord will give us, instead, one better than it. Indeed, we make our humble submission." [30]

    قَالُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَٰغِينَ

    31.They said: "Woe to us! Surely, we were disobedient [29]."

    فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَلَٰوَمُونَ

    30. Then some of them advanced[28] against others, blaming each other.

    قَالُواْ سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ

    29.They said: "Glory be to our Lord. Surely, we have been unjust [27]."

    قَالَ أَوۡسَطُهُمۡ أَلَمۡ أَقُل لَّكُمۡ لَوۡلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ

    28. The moderate among them said: "Did I not say to you, why do you not glorify [26] (Allah)?"

    بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ

    27. "No, in fact, we have been deprived." [25]

    فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ

    26.But when they saw it, they said: "Certainly, we have gone astray."

    وَغَدَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ حَرۡدٖ قَٰدِرِينَ

    25. And in the morning they proceeded with determination.

    أَن لَّا يَدۡخُلَنَّهَا ٱلۡيَوۡمَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّسۡكِينٞ

    24.Saying: "Let no needy person enter it today against you" [24].

    فَٱنطَلَقُواْ وَهُمۡ يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ

    23. So they went, whispering to each other [23].

    أَنِ ٱغۡدُواْ عَلَىٰ حَرۡثِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰرِمِينَ

    22. Saying: "Go out early to your field, if you intend to harvest [22].

    فَتَنَادَوۡاْ مُصۡبِحِينَ

    21. And they called out to each other in the morning.

    فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ

    20.And by morning, it became like a barren field [21].

    فَطَافَ عَلَيۡهَا طَآئِفٞ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَآئِمُونَ

    19. Then a calamity from your Lord encircled [20] it, while they were sleeping.

    وَلَا يَسۡتَثۡنُونَ

    18. But they did not make an exception

    إِنَّا بَلَوۡنَٰهُمۡ كَمَا بَلَوۡنَآ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ إِذۡ أَقۡسَمُواْ لَيَصۡرِمُنَّهَا مُصۡبِحِينَ

    17. Indeed, We have tested them as We tested the companions of the garden [17], when they swore they would surely harvest its fruit in the morning [18], but did not say: "If Allah wills" [19].
