    وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَن ذِي ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِۖ قُلۡ سَأَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡكُم مِّنۡهُ ذِكۡرًا

    83. And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn [192]. Say, "I will recite to you an account of him [193]."

    إِنَّا مَكَّنَّا لَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ سَبَبٗا

    84. We established him firmly on the earth and gave him the means to accomplish everything [194].

    فَأَتۡبَعَ سَبَبًا

    85. Then he followed a cause [195].

    حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغۡرِبَ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغۡرُبُ فِي عَيۡنٍ حَمِئَةٖ وَوَجَدَ عِندَهَا قَوۡمٗاۖ قُلۡنَا يَٰذَا ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِ إِمَّآ أَن تُعَذِّبَ وَإِمَّآ أَن تَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمۡ حُسۡنٗا

    86. Until, when he reached the setting of the sun [196], he found it set in a spring of black muddy [197], and he found there a people. We said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [198] them or treat them with kindness."

    قَالَ أَمَّا مَن ظَلَمَ فَسَوۡفَ نُعَذِّبُهُۥ ثُمَّ يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابٗا نُّكۡرٗا

    87. He said, "As for him who wrongs, we shall surely punish him [199], then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a severe punishment [200]."

    وَأَمَّا مَنۡ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا فَلَهُۥ جَزَآءً ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۖ وَسَنَقُولُ لَهُۥ مِنۡ أَمۡرِنَا يُسۡرٗا

    88. As for him who believes in and does righteous work, he will have a reward that is good [201], and we will speak to him with ease in our command.

    ثُمَّ أَتۡبَعَ سَبَبًا

    89. Then he followed a way [202].

    حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَطۡلِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَجَدَهَا تَطۡلُعُ عَلَىٰ قَوۡمٖ لَّمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُم مِّن دُونِهَا سِتۡرٗا

    90.Until he reached the place where the sun rises [203], and he found it rising over a people who had no shelter from it [204].

    كَذَٰلِكَۖ وَقَدۡ أَحَطۡنَا بِمَا لَدَيۡهِ خُبۡرٗا

    91. Such is the case. And We have full knowledge of everything he had [205].

    ثُمَّ أَتۡبَعَ سَبَبًا

    92. Then he followed another path [206].

    حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ بَيۡنَ ٱلسَّدَّيۡنِ وَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمَا قَوۡمٗا لَّا يَكَادُونَ يَفۡقَهُونَ قَوۡلٗا

    93. Until he reached [207] between two mountains, where he found a people who could hardly understand anything [208].

    قَالُواْ يَٰذَا ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِ إِنَّ يَأۡجُوجَ وَمَأۡجُوجَ مُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَهَلۡ نَجۡعَلُ لَكَ خَرۡجًا عَلَىٰٓ أَن تَجۡعَلَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ سَدّٗا

    94. They [209] said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed, Gog and Magog are causing mischief [210] in the land. Should we then pay you a tribute [211] on the condition that you build a barrier between us and them?"

    قَالَ مَا مَكَّنِّي فِيهِ رَبِّي خَيۡرٞ فَأَعِينُونِي بِقُوَّةٍ أَجۡعَلۡ بَيۡنَكُمۡ وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ رَدۡمًا

    95. He said, "What my Lord has given me is better [212]. Help me with your strength [213], so I can build a strong barrier between you and them [214]."

    ءَاتُونِي زُبَرَ ٱلۡحَدِيدِۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا سَاوَىٰ بَيۡنَ ٱلصَّدَفَيۡنِ قَالَ ٱنفُخُواْۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَعَلَهُۥ نَارٗا قَالَ ءَاتُونِيٓ أُفۡرِغۡ عَلَيۡهِ قِطۡرٗا

    96. "Bring me blocks of iron [215]." When he had leveled the iron between the two mountains, he said, "Blow" until it became red-hot. Then he said, "Bring me molten copper [216] so I can pour it over the iron."

    فَمَا ٱسۡطَٰعُوٓاْ أَن يَظۡهَرُوهُ وَمَا ٱسۡتَطَٰعُواْ لَهُۥ نَقۡبٗا

    97. Then Gog and Magog could not climb over it, nor could they make a hole in it [217].

    قَالَ هَٰذَا رَحۡمَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّيۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعۡدُ رَبِّي جَعَلَهُۥ دَكَّآءَۖ وَكَانَ وَعۡدُ رَبِّي حَقّٗا

    98. He said, "This is a mercy from my Lord. When the promise of my Lord comes, He will make it crumble [218]. And the promise of my Lord is always true [219]."

    ۞وَتَرَكۡنَا بَعۡضَهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَمُوجُ فِي بَعۡضٖۖ وَنُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَجَمَعۡنَٰهُمۡ جَمۡعٗا

    99. And on that day, We will leave them, with some of them surging against others [220]. Then the trumpet will be blown, and We will gather them all together [221].
