123. Pharaoh said: "You have accepted faith in Him before I permitted you [256]. Indeed, this is a trick you have planned [257] in the city to expel its people from it, so soon you will know."

124. I shall certainly cut off your hands and your feet on alternate sides, then I shall crucify you all [258].

125. They said: "We are surely to return to our Lord" [259].

126. And what fault do you find in us, except that we have believed in the signs of our Lord [260] when they came to us? O our Lord! Pour patience upon us and cause us to die as Muslims [261].

127. And the chiefs [262] of Pharaoh's people said: "Will you leave Musa and his people to cause mischief in the land and forsake you and your gods?" He said: "We shall kill their sons and keep their women alive [263], and indeed we have full control over them [264]."

128. Musa said to his people: "Seek help from Allah and be patient [267]. Surely, the earth belongs to Allah. He grants it as an inheritance to whomsoever He wills from His servants. And the final outcome is for the pious [268]."

129. They said: "We were oppressed before you came to us, and since you have come to us [269]." He said: "It is likely that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors in the land, then He will see how you act [270]."

130. And indeed, We seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a shortage of fruits [271], so that they might take heed [272].

131.But when good came to them, they said: "This is due to our own efforts." And if a bad deed afflicted them, they would attribute it as an ill omen [273] to Musa and those with him. Truly, their ill fate is with Allah alone, but most of them do not know [274].

132. And they said: "Whatever sign you bring to us to enchant us with, we will never believe you [275]."

133. Then We sent upon them the flood [276], locusts [277], lice [278], frogs [279], and blood [280]—clear signs. But they became arrogant and were a people of sin.

134. And when the punishment descended upon them, they said: "O Musa, pray to your Lord on our behalf, by that covenant He has with you [281]. Surely, if you remove this torment from us [282], we will certainly believe in you and will send with you the Children of Israel [283]."

135. But when We removed the torment [284] from them until a term which they were to reach [285], then they broke their word.

136. So We took vengeance [286] on them and drowned them in the sea [287] because they denied Our signs and were heedless of them [288].

137. And We made a people, who were already oppressed, inheritors of the eastern and western parts of the land [289] in which We placed Our blessings [290]. And the gracious promise of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel [291], in reward for their patience. And We destroyed whatever Pharaoh and his people produced and what they used to erect [292].

139. Surely, what they are involved in is destined for destruction, and whatever they are doing is completely void [297].

140. He said: "Shall I seek for a god [298] other than Allah, whereas He has exalted you above all the peoples of the world [299]?"

141.And remember when We delivered you [300] from the people of Pharaoh, who had inflicted you with severe punishment, slaughtering your sons and letting your daughters live [301]. And therein [302] was the great bounty of your Lord.

142.And We made Musa a promise of thirty nights and [303] completed adding ten more in them. So the promise of his Lord was completed with forty nights [304]. And Musa said to his brother Harun: "Be my vicegerent among my people and [305] do right and follow not the way of mischief-makers" [306].
